About the logistics team

Bi-Mart's distribution center, truck shop, and logistics department are located in Eugene, Oregon and provide service to 85 stores located throughout Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Bi-Mart's fleet of trucks are maintained by our knowledgeable on-staff mechanics and are driven by on-staff drivers with long standing safety records.

Every distribution center, truck shop, and traffic employee is united in a common goal: the movement of merchandise from our distribution center to the stores in an efficient and safe manner. By utilizing logistics and an automated replenishing system, as well as hard work and dedication, these employees meet the needs of the stores and, ultimately, our customers every day.

 

About the Position

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and overall management of a variety of equipment, including diesel trucks, trailers, lift trucks, order selectors, floor scrubbers, and pallet jacks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of our fleet and equipment.

 

The Fleet Manager will develop, guide, and implement maintenance plans, control costs, and organize all repair and maintenance activities to ensure the highest standards of safety, functionality, and efficiency. This position requires proactive problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to regulatory compliance with all applicable state and federal standards such as OSHA, DOT, and other relevant guidelines.

 

 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee the work on diesel, gasoline, and gas equipment, braking systems (air), engines, hydraulics, radiators, bearings, electronic control systems, air conditioning recovery systems, grinders, drill presses, timing equipment, tires, alignment and suspension components, etc.
  • Ensure all employees are working safely and following company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assign, complete and inspect all work orders.
  • Maintain and monitor parts inventory system.
  • Ensure all vehicles are in good, safe working condition complying with DOT regulations pertaining to maintaining and inspecting vehicles.
  • Monitor equipment and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical problems.
  • Maintain and monitor repair records and preventative maintenance programs on all equipment.
  • Ensure inspection, replacement, fitting and adjustment of parts according to FMCSA standards.
  • Monitor shop’s general housekeeping, ensuring neat, clean and orderly work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Valid Oregon CDL license with airbrakes, doubles, triples, and Hazmat endorsements.
  • Valid DOT physical certification.
  • Certification for Class 7 & 8 trucks, forklifts (all kinds), and yard hostlers
  • Welding Certification
  • Hazmat Certification
  • Diesel Mechanic Certification from accredited institution

Experience:

2 years experience managing a diesel mechanic shop.

 

 

Qualifications

Schedule:

As an employee-owned company, the Bi-Mart truck shop is open 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday

Hours may vary depending on workload and assignment
